This part of China is widely recognised as the region where Chinese civilisation originated so it’s no surprise there is a lot of history around here. Although now a mostly industrialised city, Luoyang was once the prosperous capital of 13 dynasties and the Old Town still has some interesting backstreets to explore. At these traditional-style shops, you can pick up some local snacks, traditional drums and Chinese calligraphy.
