Kharkiv was the first capital of the Ukrainian SSR (1919-1934) and a number of buildings were designed in the style of constructivist architecture as a recognition of the city’s status during that time. Situated on Privokzalnyi Maidan (Station Square), the post office was the largest of its kind in Ukraine at the time of its completion.
