Monument to Vladimir Lenin
Location: Tiraspol, Transnistria
Completed: 1987
Sculptor: Nikolai Tomsky
Genre: Soviet monument, former USSR
The granite monument in front of the building of the Transnistria Parliament is modelled on the 1970 Lenin statue that used to be on Leninplatz (now United Nations Square) in East Berlin and was dismantled in 1992. Both monuments were the work of renowned Soviet sculptor, Nikolai Tomsky who was the president of the USSR Academy of Arts from 1968 to 1983.
