Established by the Art Fund of the USSR, art production workshops (kombinats) were active throughout the Soviet Union between 1940 and 1992. Their aim was to promote the creative activity of artists as well as provide financial and organisational support to members of the Union of Artists of the USSR. The artwork on side of the kombinat in Ivano-Frankivsk portrays artists using tools to create their artwork. More examples of Soviet-era mosaics.
