Dimitâr Blagoev was a philosopher and founding member of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Workers’ Party, which became the Bulgarian Communist Party. On 2nd August 1891, he arranged the first gathering of the various socialist groups within Bulgaria on the southern slope of Buzludzha Peak, an event that later became known as the Bulgarian Socialist Congress.
